- Essential Fatty Acid Analysis
- The Metametrix Fatty Acid analysis Profile can guide patients and physicians to the correct balance of fatty acid intake. Being that inflammation has now been shown to be associated with a variety of diseases, understanding the pro- and anti- inflammatory ratios of essential fatty acids is key to prevention and health optimization.
A blood test done at ADVANCED MEDICINE but processed at Metametrix (metametrix.com) can provide the physician and the patient with this valuable information. Improper fatty acid intake affects the balance of anti- and pro-inflammatory markers, altering one’s state of health. Consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) without increasing antioxidant intake will cause increased production of free radicals. Some research points to the idea that excessive consumption of omega-3 fatty acids can suppress immune function. Recent research has shown that HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors ("statins") can increase the amounts of pro-inflammatory arachidonic acid.

- Coronary Calcium scores or Heart Scans
- Coronary calcified plaque build-up is an indicator of heart disease. This is commonly called "hardening of the arteries." Dr. Kroner has chosen Inner Imaging in NYC as the premier center to obtain a coronary calcium score. The center uses the Imatron Ultrafast EBT scanner which exposes patients to significantly less radiation than other traditional machines.
A coronary calcium score reflects the total amount of calcium deposits found in coronary arteries, based on size and density. The higher the score, the greater the risk of coronary disease. Based on the results, the next steps could range from behavior and lifestyle modifications, to appropriate medications or further diagnostic procedures.
Inner imaging is located at 307 East 63rd St., New York NY 10065, 212-777-8900, www.innerimaging.com.
